PHMC believes that health equity is the foundation of good public health. In celebration of Black History Month, PHMC reflects on the achievements of African Americans in public health while continuing to forge pathways to a healthier future with optimal health outcomes for all.

As a public health institute PHMC is committed to:

  • identifying where gaps and inequities exist through rigorous research;
  • working with other sectors to create social and economic change for all;
  • offering programs that reduce disparities and create opportunities for health; and
  • linking more people to health providers and our health centers to encourage regular visits and disease management.

PHMC works to create and sustain a community in which everyone has the same opportunity to live a healthy life, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, geographic location or ability.
